Thanks to Dr Kehn Yapp for forcing us to rethink about how we do things everyday. He gave an excellent presentation at PERF-TDO meeting. Recently he started a discussion on his experience using stropko syringe under operating microscopes. Hopefully, he might find some free time to chime in here. I don’t have much experience teaching this, but had the chance to learn from the best (JK & Doyon).

Here, I am working with a fairly new recruit. This clip reminded me of how we train to work with each other as a team. Our new recruit has no past dental experience which is a tremendous help for us. 

As we get started it takes few shots on almost every case, we are getting better every day. we usually break it down to small tasks (like one surface at a time) and complement every single effort. You can see in first 10 seconds how we bump into each other, we laugh/talk about it and try to get better next time. As you already know the “discpline” is of utmost importance which is lacking on my part.

Often times i forget and work like a samurai jumping to opposite sides from mesial- distal – buccal – lingual……. prettty much all over the place. It makes my assistants life harder. It is important i keep reminding myself to stay with one surface at a time and provide verbal cues to my new recruit.
