– Sub-gingival caries distal to an isolated #13
– Gingivectomy and isolation done
– Caries driven access through the distal (missing #12 and #14 made this approach possible)
– No post-endodontic restoration planned as the patient is a partial denture user (maxillary an mandibular) an I don’t think she will generate enough functional load for a structural failure.

Hi Reuben,
Did you consider SCR?
Hi doc, this was at the junction where the acrylic partial denture anchors on to the tooth so I was banking more on food accumulation and caries. But then could be resorption as well
Hi Reuben,
SCR = Selective Caries Removal in lieu of endodontics…
No doc, it wasn’t an option in this case. She had symptoms suggestive of an irreversible pulpal state
The coronal third is what you are talking about right??, I did drill into that with US tips to make sure I haven’t missed anything (atleast to the best of my ability) and it is more like the resin core didn’t flow in there. Still haven’t figured out the art of 3-D fill of the pulp chamber that well yet.
Sure thing, thanks Dr Craig
This is a great dental website and poppy playtime chapter 3 that everyone should read at least once.
