At a recent visit with GD – Patient was informed by GD, tooth needs Endo and Crown, GD diagnosed a crack, I had informed patient’s Mom at the initial visit to consult with me prior to any further intervention. I could not see anything of signficance using trans-illumination, staining and magnification.
Pulp sensibility test with cold – his response was delayed. Images of contralateral side were taken along the way to compare root maturation status. CBCT pending to assess the suspicious area present mid root!
Craig, semantically speaking preservative or sustained would mean maintaining status quo. The goal in regeneration is to replace or restore cells and tissues to their “original” condition. The procedure aims to utilize inherent mechanisms to achieve the goal. I agree with your observation, about the unpredictability with regards to a consistent result of a certain desired tissue or structure and also potential for misdirected programming by the cells. We cannot determine the type of tissue replacing the space other than by histology.Having said that would I rather have my child have this procedure over a traditional apexification, no doubt!!
