Thought we would try some practice on JK’s challenge to do a DME on a #2 so I created a deep DO alloy on one of our cadavers and then tried to prep it using his technique.
Not perfect, but we are getting better at it. A couple of things:
1. This is way easier using Tytin alloy. It just cuts so much easier than our other alloy.
I let it set about 10 min before cutting.
2. I was hubbed out on my diamond and it was very hard to see anything because of the handpiece head. One needs a longer bur to do these.
3. I switched to a CT-4D and UT-4D to do the final feathering at the base and in my hands, this is far preferable just because you can see so much easier with little risk of ditching the alloy. Maybe others with better bur skills will disagree but I know how I am going to do mine in the future.
4. Joy seemed fine with her positioning with the Stropko—no real adjustments to how we normally function as far as I can tell.
Always looking for help on how we can improve.
